Softing DTS 9 – Automotive Ethernet and DoIP as the New Core Technology of Communication between the Tester and ECUs

The latest E/E architectures combine the need for high bandwidths and extended security mechanisms with the increased use of DoIP and Automotive Ethernet. This significantly increases the complexity of testing for correct communication responses as well as for the debugging of errors. Softing DTS.monaco reliably supports working with the new protocols, for example with the integrated DoIP monitor, which enables the recording and analysis of communication, and with the display of the current communication status in the control elements at all times.

Release 2.2 of the Repair Shop Tool Softing TDX Now Available
A frequent challenge for diagnostics in the field is that the ECU configuration of a machine is not known in advance and that a diagnostic project may have to be adapted or supplemented dynamically during runtime. With the new version 2.2 of the repair shop tool Softing TDX it is possible to load (“switching”) and even supplement (“merging”) diagnostic projects dynamically, depending on the machine configuration.

Softing TDX is the universal repair shop tool intended for use by vehicle and component manufacturers. It supports all necessary diagnostic functions in troubleshooting, repair and in the initialization of individual components and entire vehicles.

 Functional Mock-Up Unit – Softing Delivers a Further System to an OEM

Functional Mock-Up Units (FMUs) - three-dimensional, vehicle-sized test boards - are used, among other things, for networking tests of all ECUs of a vehicle family. FMUs make it possible to integrate the original cable harness and a number of other original components in tests long before that is possible in real bodywork. Softing recently set up and delivered a sixth FMU system to a vehicle manufacturer. This was a further opportunity for us to demonstrate our excellence in realizing complex test systems.

Large Series over 47 Universally Deployable Test Systems for Tier1

The introduction of new vehicle architectures with only a few, high-performance ECUs requires extremely flexible test architectures. In close collaboration with one of the largest German automotive suppliers, Softing has developed and set up innovative HiL systems for testing these high-performance computing platform ECUs.

  • Up to 288 freely configurable I/O channels
  • Every channel can be used flexibly as a dummy load, sensor simulation or for evaluating measurement data
  • ECU communication over up to 34 LIN channels, 12 CAN channels as well as over FlexRay and BroadR-Reach
  • Simple configuration over system CAN
In spite of an extremely ambitious time frame and a large number of systems, Softing concluded the engineering and setup of the system as planned. Delivery was on time directly to various customer locations in Germany, Romania and India.

OBD to Ethernet solutions by Softing Wireless & Wired Adapters for Diagnostics in ECU & Vehicle Engineering over DoIP

Softing offers wireless and wired adapters for secure and convenient diagnostics in ECU and vehicle engineering. Depending on the requirements you can choose between:
  • Wireless: WIFI-Ethernet-Bridge with integrated OBD diagnostic connector (VIN|ING 600)
  • Wired: OBD diagnostic connector on RJ45

Technical Article – Paradigm Shift Enhances the Quality of Diagnostics

Trends, such as electric and autonomous driving, are leading to paradigm shifts in the E/E architecture; the constantly increasing range of variants of ECUs from OEMs is also a challenge for vehicle diagnostics.
